On Monday, October 9th, 2017, the Ellington Recreation Department hosted the first annual JRP 3v3 Soccer Tourney to benefit the Jacob Roger Poulin Foundation. Even the rain couldn't take anything away from this fantastic event. In fact, the kids loved playing their small-sided games in the slick conditions and it helped keep everyone just cool enough in the unseasonably warm temperature.
Thanks to the 25 sponsors, 35 teams, and countless volunteers and individual donors, this soccer tournament raised about $9,000 that will all go towards helping to build J4cob's Park! A very special thank you to the Town of Ellington through Bob Tedford and the Recreation Department, without whom this event would not have been possible.
The most special of thank you's belongs to the Desrocher Family. In early August, Nick Desrocher, the second of three sons of Jim and Cindy, offered the idea of organizing a 3v3 soccer tournament for 8-15 year olds that would benefit the JRPF. Steve and Sarah were delighted at the idea of the soccer tournament and said the JRPF would do whatever the Desrocher’s needed. But the Desrocher family said all they needed was our blessing and they would handle the rest … and they did! What an incredible event they put together! They look forward to organizing next year's soccer tournament, as well as some other sporting events throughout the year.
We have also received a lot of inquiries about doing a 3v3 tournament for adults and are looking into pursuing that option as well!

Join the JRPF and the Ellington Recreation Department
for a Jamboree-round robin style 3v3 soccer tournament!
The Details:
3 person teams (co-ed teams acceptable)
minimum of 3 games per team
medals for all participants
$100 per team ($125 after October 3rd)
Age Groups:
2008-2010: 8-10 year olds
2006-2007: 11-12 year olds
2003-2005: 13-15year olds
To Register:
Have a team "captain" pick up tournament registration packet at the Ellington Recreation Department Office or email RecreationStaff@ellington-ct.gov to have a packet emailed to you.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the concession stand and to help with the officiating assignments. We are looking for 8-12 sponsors ($150-$200) sponsor fee. Please contact Robert Tedford at rtedford@ellington-ct.gov if interested.
