FAQ
1. Do we need a goalie?
A: Nope! goalies are encouraged to sign up but only to play out with their teammates for a fun day of hockey.
2. What kind of name should we use?
A: We've seen all kinds, but the best names are a combination of funny and hockey. Some past examples are Celly Sistahs, ZamBROnies, Ted Hitchcock (Shoresey reference, hah), Forechecking Freaks, etc. We've had quite a few tribute names honoring Jacob in the past as well. We love seeing the creativity and encourage you to have fun with it too!
3. What does the rink/goal set up look like?
A: We split the ice into thirds with bumpers along the blue lines. The goals will be small nets for the younger players and "pond hockey" style goals for some of our older players.
4. What bracket is my player/team?
A: This is really your call, but we are trying to make these teams as fairly matched as possible so that everyone has fun. Some teams may have a game or two scheduled outside of their "bracket", depending on how many teams register to play and how many kids are on mixed teams.
5. Can we have mixed ages on our team?
A: Yes, but please be mindful of skill level and player size comparatively. We want everyone to be safe and have fun. Having said that, if a team as mixed ages, the higher age level will prevail.
6. Do we wear our own jersey?
A: Nope! Your registration comes with a JRPF jersey for you to keep.
7. Can I register my player as an individual, without a team?
A: We're sorry, but we would really prefer that every player be registered with a team because finding enough individual players of the same bracket has been very challenging.
8. What age is the Open Skate open to?
A: All ages! We want everyone to come out and enjoy this day together.
